Emma Jones

Wee Blue Press

Emma will be located in Venue 15 - Village Hall

Emma Jones is an artist and printmaker with a studio just off Eyemouth beach. Her practice is heavily influenced by her daily sketchbook practice, and drawing from life - beach, woods, plants, birds are recurrent themes in her diverse prints and paintings.

I am a largely self-taught artist and printmaker, with a small studio in Eyemouth. I enjoy experimenting with and combining different techniques, producing single prints or very small editions. Over the last two years I have been trying to develop a more sustainable practice and have printed with recycled packaging, found items and on raw canvas or reclaimed fabric.

My deep love of the sea and landscape influences my practice and I am drawn to natural shapes and materials. In recent work, I have tried to simplify the shapes and textures, using stencils and plant materials to create prints on handmade paper and raw canvas. My practice is heavily starts with drawing from life - on the beach, in the woods, sketching plants at the kitchen table - and I have sought over the years to translate this daily practice sketchbook work into prints and paintings.
