Hannah Longmuir

I'm an artist, and I run a paper company, designing cards, calendars and stationery.

I grew up in the Borders, left briefly, missed it, and returned home to build my business. I've been back in the Borders, drawing the landscape, for almost 14 years now.  I could quite happily live out my days drawing the trees, the birds and my kids.

I keep a journal of the changing seasons and of family life, filling my sketchbooks with notes and sketches.  Then, back in the studio, I create larger scale, gentle, detailed pencil drawings.  Drawing feels like magic to me.

I love designing and selling paper goods. I love that through my cards and calendars I get to be part of those moments that make up a life well lived: celebrations, sympathies, thank yous, invitations, appointments, beginnings and ends of life.  For me, it is all about connection: connection with nature, connection with each other.

I'm excited to be back showing at Ancrum for the first time since having the kids.  I was one of the original exhibitors at the very first Art at Ancrum and it has been a lovely thing to be part of over the years.
