Art at Ancrum is an annual arts and crafts exhibition held in a number of locations in the village of Ancrum on the weekend of the early May Bank Holiday. The event first ran in 2013 and has built up slowly. 2020 would have been its last outing as the original organisers were retiring, but of course that year’s show was cancelled because of Covid and no plans were made for 2021. The show was revived in 2022 when 35 artists participated, and 2024 will be its tenth year.
The artists and makers are mostly based in the Scottish Borders or nearby. Most are professional artists, selling their work through local and national galleries and other exhibitions. Their stalls at Art at Ancrum provide an opportunity to the public to view high quality locally produced artwork, and to meet the artists and makers.
Art at Ancrum is a constituted non-profit distributing organisation. Its members are the artists and makers and other community members, including the venue owners. Our venues include the Village Hall, the Bowling Clubroom, the Village Fete Committee’s marquee, the Ancrum Cross Keys pub and a number of private houses and gardens.
The event is managed by a small organising group of artists working with two Joint Coordinators from the local community.
