“Many paths have brought me to where I am.”
It’s 1982... After serving an apprenticeship in Carpentry and joinery I spent several years studying in Edinburgh and Glasgow. On completion of my degree, I found I had time on my hands, time to explore ideas. It was during this period that I dug my old tools out and started working on pieces of wood I’d collected for their intriguing shapes or textures. From this small acorn, as they say, a sapling grew.... 1997

2000... I decided to make my passion full time. I have been working with local hardwoods ever since.
Taking inspiration from the surrounding natural environment and woodlands in particular, I try to express my love and interest in such places through my work. Using locally found hardwoods, which I season myself, I make a variety of items; boxes, bookends, bookmarks, picture frames, mirror frames and some furniture.
In all that I do I try to retain and emphasise the natural lines, colours, patterns and beauty inherent in these woods.
