There is a track by the church in Ancrum which leads past the forest, towards the fields with a view of Rubers Law, and to my studio. Here behind faded blue steading doors lies another world - the world of stone; a world I have inhabited for a decade and more.
I work using hand tools, in local sandstone and slates and make everything from house signs to garden sculptures, memorials and exhibition work.
Much of my work features text and is based on the natural world. I am particularly interested in fossils and in the passing of time. A recent continuing series is about what it is that makes us human, sets us apart from other mammals. It celebrates the attributes, senses and qualities of homo sapiens.
I have been working chunks of our planet into sculptures and lettering for 20 years now and would like to welcome you to what may well be my final open studio.
There will be all my unsold sculptures for sale plus some smaller more affordable pieces of lettering and hand-made cards and also some of my prints.
