There is a track by the church in Ancrum which leads past the forest, towards the fields with a view of Rubers Law, and to my studio. Here behind blue steading doors lies another world - the world of stone; a place I have inhabited for the last decade and more.
Here you will find text carved into slate; a sundial, carved fossils, stone vessels, pieces large and small.
I work using hand tools, in local sandstone and slates and make everything from house signs to garden sculptures, memorials and exhibition work.
This last year has been busy with commissions which means my personal work has taken a back seat. However I plan to produce some new and exciting work in media other than stone for the event this year.
Come and see how stone is worked and even have a go yourself. There will be a piece of lettering in progress and my latest commission.
I look forward to flinging open my doors and welcoming you in!
